Participants joined climate and environmental communication expert Cara Pike for an in-depth training in communicating climate change. Through lecture and group discussion, participants learned about public opinion trends for California and the San Francisco  area and how to frame coastal climate impacts messages for a range of audiences.  Interactive exercises provided participants the opportunity to work with other coastal managers and public engagement/outreach specialists to develop a climate story. Participants left with a draft climate presentation that can be used to reach and motivate their target audiences

Communicating Coastal Climate Impacts to Diverse Audiences

 

Intended Audience:

Coastal resource managers, public engagement and outreach specialists

 

Objectives:

  • Improve understanding of best practices in communicating climate change
  • Improve understanding of how to frame coastal climate impact messages for a range of audiences
  • Improve skills for developing audience-tailored climate messages
