This one-day symposium will focus on the science occurring in and around Elkhorn Slough, including research and education about a diversity of estuarine and marsh organisms and processes. Presentation topics will include overviews of Slough habitats, species, and conservation issues; tidal marsh restoration and restoration science; eelgrass restoration science; UAV monitoring; surface and groundwater quality monitoring; water-quality treatment wetlands; conservation aquaculture; historical ecology and archeology; blue carbon; sea otter, crabs, and other species interactions; wildlife rehabilitation and population dynamics; and science outreach and education.

Please register and participate to find out what’s being learned at the Slough!

Goals:
  • Exchange information about Elkhorn Slough across a broad audience
  • Generate interest in new studies and partnerships
  • Foster a better understanding of the Slough, which will lead to increased support for conservation and restoration.

The registration deadline for this symposium is Monday, October 7.

This Symposium is primarily supported by a NOAA grant to the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, but we also need to charge registration fees, in two-tiers, for costs in excess of what the grant covers. For current students, the fee is $9, and for non-students, the fee is $16.

To get the student rate, students should input the discount code "STUDENT" during the payment step.

At the end of the day, from ~4:00-5:30, there will be a networking social for all attendees. The "happy hour" is being sponsored in part through a generous donation from the Elkhorn Slough Brewing Company.
