This workshop brought together researchers and managers focusing on California's Grasslands. The goals of this workshop were to: 1) Define a suite of restoration and/or management goals shared by grasslands managers (by conducting a survey of grasslands managers before the workshop) 2) Develop recommendations for standardized, effective, and efficient monitoring methodologies to help grasslands managers meet their goals (developed by a panel of scientists) 3) Facilitate a discussion between researchers and managers about creating feasible grassland management goals and the monitoring programs that accompany them. This workshop sought answers to the following questions: 1) What are reasonable goals for restoring and managing California's grasslands? 2) How do I create a grassland monitoring program that informs my adaptive management program? 3) How are managers approaching grassland management in California? 4) How can researchers help grassland managers, and vice versa?
