Occassionally, the Coastal Training Program fulfills the role that public agencies used to play in better funding times - bringing together all those responsible for maintaining and managing the few remaining populations of our region's most endangered species. By facilitating sharing the most promising recovery techniques, it is our hope that there will be faster and more permanent recovery of these imperiled species. Also, we hope that the methodologies we build into these dialogues will help knit together a more cohesive environmental management community that can better work together to solve even more complex issues on a regional basis.
Goal: To increase the efficacy of human activities to create thriving long term populations of Ohlone tiger beetle.
Objectives:
Increase participant knowledge of:
- Current population trends
- Management –population trend correlations
- Regulatory agency actions, and
- Research activities – ongoing and proposed
Increase collaboration between participants such that:
- management is informed across populations
- monitoring occurs in an effective and comparable way
- research answers priority questions
- participants apply limited resources to priority conservation threats
This is the fourth Ohlone tiger beetle recovery workshop. It is by invitation only, to limit the number of participants to only those actively engaged in work that directly affects the recovery of the species. replique cartier We hope to gather information on trends of each population, from numbers of individuals to management responses and conservation threats.
